Helen Marie Landes, 73, of Amarillo died on Thursday, March 23, 2017. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 1, 2017 in Second Baptist Church, 419 N Buchanan. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Street.
Marie was born on December 28, 1943 in Newton, Illinois to Dale and Freida Cornwell. She married Richard Dean Landes on October 7, 1961 in Georgia. Marie attended Amarillo College and West Texas State University where she received her nursing degrees. She worked as a nurse at St. Anthony Hospital and later BSA Hospital for over 30 years..
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, two sisters, Shirley and Debbie Cornwell and a brother, Donnie Cornwell.
She is survived by her children, Lee Landes and wife Laura, Rodger David Landes and wife Donna and Theresa Lucille Landes; nine siblings, brother George Cornwell and wife Beverly; sister Elaine Cornwell; sister Lori Ponds; sister Kathy Malerney and husband Bob; sister Valene Lester; sister Ruby Goode and husband Bob; sister Loretta Tolliver and husband Dale; brother Dennis Cornwell and wife Edie and sister Jennie Sparks; brothers in law, John Landes and Don Landes; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
