Hazel Jo Burns, 82, of Amarillo died on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 31, 2017 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Bob Miller officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Street.
Hazel Jo was born on July 12, 1934 in Amarillo, Texas to Don and Iretta Threet. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1952. Hazel married Phillip R. Burns on July 10, 1953 in Clovis, New Mexico. She worked at Heath Furniture Store in the sales department for over 10 years. She loved her kids, grandkids and great grandchildren and she was very active in their lives. She was known as "Bom" by friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Phillip, a son Butch Burns and a brother Carroll Threet.
Mrs. Burns is survived by her children, Debbie Maynard and husband Royce of Richmond, Texas and Gary Burns and wife Vickie of Amarillo, Texas; four grandchildren, Daniel Burns and wife Cori, Jennifer Beyers and husband Lance, Kylee Snow and husband, Andrew, all of Amarillo, Texas and Rebekah Poore of Corpus Christi, Texas; and 12 great grandchildren.
