Guadalupe Hernandez Martinez, 74, of Amarillo died on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Liturgy of the Word will be read at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 27, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel with Father Arturo Mesa as Celebrant. Rosary will be said at 7:00 pm, Friday, September 26, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road.

Guadalupe Martinez was born on June 5, 1940 in Canutillo, Tx to Thomas and Refugia Hernandez. She grew up and attended Carlsbad, NM High School. She married Patricio Martinez on April 30, 1960 in Carlsbad. After high school, Guadalupe attended cosmetology school and was a hair dresser. Grandma G's biggest joy in life was taking care of her family and she did this for over the last 30 years. She loved to cook, work puzzles and especially liked to shop on the QVC network. Grandma G was a very religious lady and instilled those values in her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Frank Hernandez.

She is survived by her husband Patricio of the home; a daughter Debbie of Amarillo; two brothers, Manuel Hernandez and wife Margaret of Glendale, CA and Richard Hernandez of Carlsbad, NM; two sisters, Elida Benavidez of Amarillo and Consuelo Acosta of Hobbs, NM; three grandchildren, Danielle Rocha, Dominic Diaz and wife Aline and Patrick Miranda and wife Alma, all of Amarillo and seven great grandchildren, Faith, Mea, Anthony, Felecity, Giovanni, Aubree and Jordyn.
