Graham J. Hazen, 81, of Amarillo died on Thursday, February 19, 2015. Memorial services will be at 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Faith Southwest Church, 4415 Wesley Street with Pastor Jerry Raab officiating. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Graham Hazen was born on January 5, 1934 in Des Moines, IA. to John and Mary Belle Hazen. He proudly served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. Graham married the love of his life, Verda Rae Jackson on January 16, 1954 in Booneville, IA and their love lasted 61 years. He was a cattle buyer for Monfort until he retired in 1995 . Graham loved people and enjoyed traveling to see his family and friends. His utmost priority was his family and he never missed a ball game or an activity. Graham loved taking people to dinner and was known for saying "One check and I Got It'!
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Verda Rae; a daughter, Gail Simmons and husband Todd of Amarillo; a son, Kent Hazen and wife Terri of Spring; four grandchildren, Ashley Whitley and husband Jason of Amarillo, Brady Bynum and Amy Johnson of Tulsa, Jacob Hazen and Casey Sailer and Courtney Hazen, all of Spring and three great grandchildren, Remington Whitley, Rylee Whitley and Charlee Rae Bynum.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Olivia's Angels or BSA Hospice.
