Goldie Marie Hyland, 90, of Amarillo died on Saturday, February 14, 2015. Rosary will be said at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, February 19, 2015 with Father James Schmitmeyer as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.
Goldie Hyland was born on April 28, 1924 in Aurora, CO. to Joseph and Mary Lasser. She attended school in Aurora, earned her GED in Amarillo and attended Amarillo College. On July 3, 1941, she married Eugene Patrick Hyland in Aurora and came with him to Amarillo in 1951 after being transferred by the United Sates Air Force. Goldie worked for the Base Exchange, AISD, and Sears from which she retired in 1984. She was a member of the Sears Pioneer Club, Spring Chicken Club, was active at ASCA and was a volunteer for the Host program for 15 years. Goldie was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend and loved to make people laugh. If you knew her, you loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by a sister, Anne Kay of Aurora, CO; three daughters, Jeanne Johnson and Susan Garner, both of Amarillo and Barbara Berry and husband James of Farmington, NM; a son Joseph Hyland and wife Debra of Richardson; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends from 5:30 - 6:30 pm, Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel.
