Glenn F. Martin

July 11, 1933 — February 15, 2020

Glenn F. Martin, 86, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2020. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors.

Glenn was born July 11, 1933 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Barney and Elsie (Overmier) Martin. He was a graduate of Byers High School, Byer’s Texas, just outside of Wichita Falls in Clay County.

Glenn proudly served in the United States Navy and spent his time on a U.S. Aircraft Carrier. After he served his country, Glenn continued serving his fellow man as a firefighter for many years.

Having never married, Glenn remained close to his only sibling, sister, Dortha Vaughn and her husband and their daughter, Cynthia. Glenn and Cynthia maintained a close relationship after his sister, Dortha passed away in 2010.

His closest companions were his many furry children, most memorably, Tank, his Chihuahua and later, Tank, Jr., his Chihuahua/Yorkie mix.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Elsie Martin and his only sibling, beloved sister, Dortha.

Those left to cherish his memory are his niece, Cynthia Ellis and husband, Jim.
