Glendoris Sanderson

Glendoris Sanderson, 94 of Lubbock died on Thursday, April 14, 2016. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Street.
Mrs. Sanderson was born on April 24, 1921 in Electra, Texas to George R. and Bessie Stoneking. She married T.K. Sanderson on December 5, 1940 in Woodward, Oklahoma. They Celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with friends and family in 1990. They were married 69 years before Mr. Sanderson preceded her in death.
After moving to Amarillo in 1954, she was instrumental in organizing the Amarillo Council for the Mentally Challenged. A school serving special need children was built at 202 Louisiana. Through fund raising efforts and love offerings, the school was built debt free. Three certified Special Ed. teachers were hired to service the children's educational needs. The school was later absorbed into the Amarillo State MHMR Center. Mrs. Sanderson had been a member of Trinity Baptist Church since 1954, where she taught Sunday School in the primary and junior departments for many years. She was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class at Trinity. She was a lifelong member of the U.T.U. Wild Rose Lodge Auxiliary, the B.L.G. & E. Ladies Society and the Pecos Valley Craft Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Moore and her husband, Bill and Sue Sanderson; two granddaughters, Joanna Wright and husband Justin and Marianne Prarat and husband, Matt; three great grandsons, Henry and Charlie Wright and Nolan Prarat; and all her extended family members of Lubbock.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Meals on Wheels or the Llano Cemetery Tree Fund.
