Geneva Dale Nicholson, 90, of Amarillo died on Tuesday, August 26, 2014. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 30, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Minister Dale Dennis              of San Jacinto Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.

Geneva Nicholson was born on April 29, 1924 in Munday, Texas to D.L. and Ava Shelton. She lived in Dallas for a short time before her family moved to Amarillo. She graduated from Amarillo High School and attended business school at Amarillo College. As a young mother, she lived for a short time in Colorado and New Mexico before returning to settle permanently in Amarillo. Her father, D.L. Shelton was a minister for the Church of Christ in Wildorado and was also a CPA at Russell and Shelton, CPA's. Geneva faithfully attended San Jacinto Church of Christ as long as her health permitted it. She worked several years for Mattie Hedgecoke properties and for Gunn Bros. stamp store until retiring to care for her elderly parents. Geneva was a loving mother to her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted Christian and will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Jeanetta Cooley Wright.

She is survived by two sons; Sam E. Nicholson and wife Diane of Grand Prairie and Robert W. Nicholson and wife Pam of Amarillo; a sister, Doris Shelton Merrick of Allen; three Grandsons, Sam E. Nicholson Jr. and wife Sabrina of Ft. Worth, Robert W. Nicholson Jr. and wife Sarah and Brad Nicholson and wife Stephanie, both of Amarillo; two nephews, Richard Merrick of Allen and Mike Nicholson of Cisco; two nieces, Madonna Lindley of Red Oak and Gail Jenkins of Waco.

The family will be receiving friends from 5- 6:30 pm, Friday, August 29, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
