Gary Maxey

Gary Maxey, 64, of Amarillo passed from this life on Friday, December 21, 2018. The family will gather to visit with friends and those who knew Gary on Sunday, December 23, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.

Gary was born January 29, 1954 in Odessa, Texas to Malcolm and Opal (Hudson) Maxey. He attended and graduated from Palo Duro High School where he met the love of his life, Patricia Weser. They married in Amarillo on January 27, 1973. They had two sons, Chad Maxey and Zach Maxey.

Gary was a wonderful husband, father and "Pop". His great-granddaughter, Gabby, says that Pop liked to build model cars. He loved to gamble in casinos in Oklahoma and New Mexico and he enjoyed playing golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 7 siblings, Maxine Reed, Joyce Sutton, Wanda Rowlette, Mary Moore, Phil Helton, Johnny Helton and Mac Maxey.

Left to cherish his memory are his bride of 45 years, Pat of the home; two sons, Chad Maxey and wife Michelle of Amarillo and Zach Maxey and wife Laura of Millington, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Ashley Arnold and Cody Maxey and wife, Sandra and two great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Ethan Maxey. He is also survived by four siblings, Bobby Helton & wife Wanda, Pam Williams and husband, Danny, Warren Maxey and wife, Andrea and Ruby Myers and husband Paul; several nieces and nephews.
