Gary Edwin Clemens, 70 of Amarillo died on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, December 19, 2014 in the Wheeler Church of Christ with Pastor Carroll Thomason officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 20, 2014 in Dreamland cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.

Gary Clemens was born on February 9, 1944 in Wheeler to J.R. and Loma Clemens. He attended school in Kelton and married the love of his life, Maryiln Cates on December 22, 1962 in Shamrock.
Gary was a great storyteller and was very involved in his community. He never met a stranger and after a couple of minutes with him, you were a friend. Gary loved horses, covered wagons and mules and his hobby was raising cattle and farming. He was an old time western gentleman. Gary was a barber and had a special way with children. They might have been crying when they got in his barber chair but were laughing and his best friend when they got out of his barber chair. Gary was a wonderful husband, father and granddad and "Pop" thought the world of his grandchildren and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jimmy Don and a grandson Cooper.

He is survived by his wife, Maryiln of the home; a son Justin Clemens and wife Sandy of Corpus Christi; two daughters, Kerri Clemens and friend Mandy Morton and Kelee Pride and husband Jordan, all of Amarillo; a brother Randy Clemens and wife Polly of Glen Rose, TX; special sister in law, Becky Storch and husband Johnny of Levelland; seven grandchildren, Johnna, Matt, Cody, Kyla, Chase, Chloe and Thunder and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will be receiving friends from 5:30 - 7:00 pm, Thursday, December 18, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel.

The family suggests memorials to the Gentiva Hospice Foundation or St. Jude's Children Hospital.
