Celebration of his life will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 16, 2012 in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Pastor Larry Mills officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home, 8310 S. Coulter.
Garry was born April 8, 1950 to Johnnie and Muriel Langwell in Wheeler TX, and was raised in Pampa. Garry graduated Pampa High Class of 1968, and attended West Texas University. Garry was married to Laura Stovall of Amarillo from 1973-1992. After college Garry moved to Amarillo and began working as a machinist for Bell Helicopter until Bell closed their Amarillo plant. His next career move was as a Deputy Sheriff for Potter County Sheriff's Department. Garry graduated Valedictorian of the 66th Panhandle Regional Law Enforcement Academy of Amarillo College. After being a Deputy, Garry worked various jobs until retiring in Pampa. Garry was proceeded in death by his father, mother, and oldest brother, J.B. Langwell.
He is survived by a son Steve Langwell and wife Beth of Amarillo, a son Jerry Langwell, and wife Teri of Borger. Garry's greatest love was for his family, especially his 6 grandsons, Weston, Devon, Payton, Matthew, Ryan, Tyler, and his only granddaughter Katelyn who all tenderly know him as "Papa". Garry is also survived by two older brothers, Lawrence Langwell of Combine, TX, and Eddie Langwell of Claude, and several nieces, nephews and extended family. By all that knew him, Garry will always be remembered as a tender hearted teddy bear with a gentle and selfless nature. He was extremely loved and will be greatly missed.
