Garland E. Houchins, 89, of Amarillo died on Monday, December 29, 2014. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm, Saturday, January 3, 2015 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Rev. Billy Nickell of First Assembly of God officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Garland Houchins was born on March 20, 1925 in West Virginia to William and Daisy Houchins. Garland was a Furr's store manager for over 20 years. Garland loved to tinker and make things and he loved people. Garland loved his wife, Mary Elizabeth and they were married for 65 years. He also loved his family and spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Elizabeth.
He is survived by two sons, Dwight Houchins of Gurnee, Illinois and Danny Houchins and wife Lola of Florida; one brother and two sisters.
