Fred Oral Holcomb, 76 of Amarillo, died on Monday, August 31, 2015. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Thursday, September 3, 2015 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm. Burial will be held at Llano Cemetery East. Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.
Fred was born on July 20, 1939 in Paris,Texas to Oral and Lois M. Holcomb. He served in the United States Army. Fred married Linda Fay Strickland on August 15, 1959 in Borger, Texas. Fred worked for the City of Amarillo for 34 years before his retirement 14 years ago. He loved to watch sports and was an avid Texas Ranger fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant twin brothers, and a sister, Theda Dale Weigert.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda; son and daughter in law, Michael and Natalie of Lockhart, Texas; sister, Margaret Trayler of Liberal, Kansas; grandchildren, Misty Alldredge and her husband Jeff of Wimberley, Texas, Jake Kinsey of Austin, Texas, and Kara Johnson and her husband Tim of Lockhart, Texas; great grandchildren, Caleb Alldredge, Landon Alldredge and Timothy Johnson, Jr.; brothers in law, Charles Strickland of Edmonds, Washington, Jerry Strickland of Urbana, Missouri, Larry Strickland of Happy, Texas, and Aaron Strickland of Borger, Texas; sisters in law, Edie Reeves of Borger, Texas, Elaine McMurtry of Fritch, Texas; step sisters in law, Claudine Bolin of Borger, Texas, and Retha Bagwell of Stinnett, Texas.
