Earlene Gibson, 76, of Amarillo died on Sunday, April 19, 2015. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, April 24, 2015 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Dr. G. A. Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Earlene Gibson was born on October 9, 1938 in Giles, TX to Earl and Frankie Sims. Earlene married Jerry Gibson on November 5, 1976 in Amarillo. She worked for Northwest Texas Hospital in the business office. Earlene loved being outdoors and directing the family in their activities and drinking coffee. In her early days, Earlene loved to ride motorcycles. She was a very competitive lady and enjoyed playing the slot machines. Earlene was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Gyp Sims and a daughter, Beth Gibson.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; two daughters, Gay Helmly of New Braunfels and Kim Price of Amarillo; a sister, Betty Frey of Amarillo; three brothers, Kenneth Sims and wife Gwyn, Clint Sims and wife Alice, both of Amarillo and Don Sims and wife Carolyn of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Amy Olson, Haley Krock and husband Joel, both of New Braunfels, Bailey Cavanaugh and husband Craig and Alex Price and wife Zulia, both of Amarillo; seven great grandchildren, Avery and Kobie Olson, Kennedy and Carson Krock, Caden and Emma Cavavnaugh and Abbey Price.
The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 -7:30 pm, Thursday, April 23, 2015 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel.
