This remarkable, endearing lady was born on June 14, 1918 to Arthur B. and Leora Edna Jones. A product of early pioneer settlers who arrived in Amarillo by horse and wagon in 1901, Frances was blessed with a charmed childhood and at an early age worked with her father who founded the first abstract company in the panhandle (Guaranty Abstract Company). She was a lifelong member of Central Church of Christ - a congregation her father helped establish.
Educated at Amarillo High School, Abilene Christian University and Pepperdine University, Frances was quick witted, compassionate and gracious. From an early age, she exhibited extraordinary determination. As a consummate mother, companion and friend, she demonstrated amazing love and an unconquerable will to achieve and survive. She never met an animal that she did not like.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, E.E. Warnick, a United States Air Force officer from Western Maryland. Although his given name was Eldridge, Frances believed "Tommy" was a better West Texas fit and not long after their first meeting on horseback in Palo Duro Canyon, Eldridge became known as E.E. "Tommy" Warnick. After WWII, Tommy became engaged in the development, construction and title business.
She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Lee Warnick Cotter, a sister, Lavera Hilgers and two brothers, Loren Jones and Tolly Jones.
She is survived by two sons, BIll Warnick and wife Susan of Austin and Tom Warnick and wife Karen of Amarillo; a son-in-law, Rick Cotter of Denton; four grandchildren, Kimberly, Todd, Michael and Scott and one great granddaughter, Pyper, a special delight to her.
The family is most grateful and especially acknowledges the loving staff who constitute the management and staff of the Continental, Childers Place and Hospice Care of the Southwest. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, kind consideration to any of these fine institutions.
The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310. S. Coulter.
