Florence Gail Clement Metcalf gained the jewels in her Crown with our Father God after fighting Parkinson Disease for 10 years
Florence was born January 15, 1939 to Lena Walker and Thomas Jordan Clement in Bowie Texas. She passed November 3, 2023 with her devoted family by her side.
She married Jack Metcalf November 28, 1959 in Canyon, Texas and was married almost 64 years.
She has always been and was clear to the end a spicy, sassy, beautiful woman that was known for pulling pranks and jokes especially on her husband Jack.
She is survived by her husband Jack of the home, a daughter Rhonda Metcalf of Amarillo, a son, Dr. Billy Metcalf of Amarillo, a brother Zeke Clement of Stinnett, Texas, and many many nieces and nephews, and friends.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents and In-Laws Kitty and Ray Metcalf that she loved and confided in most of her life and considered as another set of parents and 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
She attended West Texas State University and studied home economics.
She was a bookkeeper for Glover Packing Company, Coors of Amarillo, Gibson-Ochsner-Atkins Law firm and American Land and Title. She retired with a home daycare after 30 years. Not only did she mentor and love all her kids, she was also a counselor and confidant to many Mom’s on challenges in life, raising kids and marriage.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo, Texas.
Florence loved collegiate and professional basketball. Her favorite teams were Duke, North Carolina and Texas Tech. Her favorite professional player was …Dennis Rodman. She loved that man and he always kept her entertained. She was an avid gardener and loved her yard and all the flowers. She was a member of the babysitting clubs “Choir Practice” where they would meet and enjoy margaritas.
In lieu of flowers memorials go to Susan G. Komen Foundation or Vanderbilt University Department of Neurology C/O Dr. Britt Stone.
Family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm Monday, November 6, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Dr. Howard K. Batson of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
