Fabian Miguel Mendoza, age 19, Denver City High School senior, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018. Services for Fabian will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Denver City High School Dag Azam Gymnasium, 900 Mustang Drive, Denver City, Texas. Viewing and visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12:00pm to 8:00 pm at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel. Burial to follow at Llano Cemetery East. Arrangement are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.
Fabian was born on March 18, 1999 in Amarillo, Texas to Angel and Sandy Mendoza. Fabian served as a Denver City High School class officer his junior year. In 2014, Fabian began his membership with the Denver City High School FFA. During his time in FFA he participated in the Spanish FFA Creed contest at State Convention and was a member of the Dairy Cattle Judging and FFA Greenhand and Senior Quiz Teams. He served as Chapter Historian from 2016-2017 and Student Advisor, 2017-2018. Fabian attended FFA District meetings, banquets, Area 2 and State FFA Conventions and was always the first student to volunteer to help with FFA activities. Fabian was also a member of the Denver City High School Auto Tech SkillsUSA organization, participating in SkillsUSA District and State Competitions. In 2017, he was a part of the Denver City Auto Tech Parliamentary Team, placing first at district and seventh at state. He also placed third in Mobile Electronics Technology and eleventh in Job Interview at the District level. Fabian was always available and eager to volunteer with the Skills group activities. Fabian truly had a servant’s heart and he will be greatly missed by his friends of FFA and the Auto Tech SkillsUSA Team!
He is survived by his dad, Angel Mendoza, stepmother, Raquel Mendoza; sisters, Julia Hernandez, Yesenia Mendoza, Blanca Mendoza, Martha Mendoza, Amalia Mendoza; brothers, Wyatt Santacruz and Ivan Mendoza; grandparents, Antonia Alvarez, Amalia Valdez, and Maria Sanchez; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandy Mendoza.
Fabian loved life and brought a smile to those around him. He is loved as a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend, student and will always be remembered for the happiness and kindness he brought to others.
