Everett Lee Cleavinger

February 5, 1920 – February 27, 2016

Everett Lee Cleavinger, 96, of Dalhart died on Saturday, February 27, 2016. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Lincoln Street Baptist Church in Dalhart, TX with Pastor Rusty Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Everett was born on February 5, 1920 in Satanta, KS to Lorenzo and Clara Mae Cleavinger. He proudly served his country in the United State Army from 1941-1945. Seven months of that time was spent as a prisoner of war in a German camp. Everett worked for the City of Dalhart as a mechanic and there was not a piece of equipment that he could not fix. He loved to go fishing in Colorado, but location did not matter as long as he had a hook in the water! Everett was the Domino king and could tell what everybody had in the hand after a couple of turns. Everett loved spending time with his family and travelling to see his family that did not live close to Dalhart.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eula Hester; two children, Joyce Bradford and James Cleavinger; one grandson, Jimmy; one great granddaughter, Hadley and two daughter in laws.

He is survived by two daughters, Katie Gehlen and Emma Raven, both of Dalhart; four sons, Ray Cleavinger and wife Linda of Battle Creek, MI, Bill Cleavinger and wife Barbara of Sunrise Beach, MO, Rickey Cleavinger and wife Sandra of Turpin, OK and Dale Cleavinger and wife Ginger of Dalhart; twenty one grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren and his second wife, June.
