Evelyn Wynnell Simmons

January 27, 1924 — April 23, 2012

Her service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Kevin Goddard officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St.

Evelyn was born Jan. 27, 1924, in Wichita Falls to Lloyd and Georgia Warren. She had been a resident of Amarillo for more than 68 years.

Evelyn was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, and she enjoyed dancing. Evelyn was a longtime member of the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Kay Frosch and Frankie Steinbrecher.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth of Amarillo; two daughters, Mattie Meacham and husband John of Fort Worth and Elizabeth Clara of Amarillo; three
stepdaughters, Julia Austin and Stephanie James, both of Amarillo, and Valerie
Stone of Peoria, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive guests from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
