Ethel Mae Veazy

June, 1932 - August, 2017

Our sweet momma, Ethel Mae Veazey went home to be with her Lord and the love of her life, Leo peacefully on August 31st, 2017. She will be missed so very much by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ in her thirties and so began a tremendous legacy of service to Him. This has begat ministers and teachers of the gospel in her sons, daughters, grandsons, grand-daughters, and now her great-grand sons and daughters. Many lives have already come to know the Lord and many more will come to know Him by her one simple act of surrender. She not only talked the talk but she walked the walk with her whole heart. We know when she left this life, she walked into the presence of her Lord and Saviour! Ethel was born on June 21st, 1932 to Vergil and Mary Stone in Ada, OK. She married the love of her life, Leo Veazey on October the 26th, 1946 at Cordell, Ok.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leo, her parents, 7 Stone brothers, Elvin, Lawrence, Leonard, Clonie, Raymond, Vernon, and Robert, 1 sister, Kathleen Pierce and 1 grandson Jeremy Veazey.
She is survived by her 4 sons, David and wife Alice of Amarillo, Larry and wife Nancy of Spring Town, TX, Jerry and wife Judy of Amarillo, and John and wife Sharon of Joplin, MO. She also has 3 daughters, Kathy Cumpston and husband Roger of Amarillo, Barbara King of Arlington, VT and Judy Messer of Amarillo. At the time of her death she has 16 grandchildren, Gary Veazey, Cindy Propes King, Kevin Veazey, Chad Veazey, Chris Propes, Scott Veazey, Melinda King Lindsey, Shellie Veazey Hamilton, Donald Veazey, Rachel King Fields, Aaron Veazey, Sherrie King Mann, Stacy Veazey Lowery, Brittney Messer Tedrow, Kyle Veazey and Katie Messer Cisneros. She left with 33 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by 1 brother Willard Stone, and 3 sisters, Ellen Harper, Glenda Duke, and Mildred Cox and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ethel Mae had a full life. She loved fishing with a cane pole, gardening & canning, painting ceramics, quilting, and creating a ton of wonderful memories with us. Momma, words cannot express the void that is left in our everyday life and hearts here on this earth, but you have given us memories that will always be in our hearts. Most of all you gave us the gift of life here and gave us direction to eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Services will be on Tuesday, September 5th, 2017 at 10:00 at the LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Chapel on Coulter with Pastor Gary Veazey officiating. Burial will be with her love, Leo at the Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family suggest memorials to be to the BSA Hospice of the Southwest or Jan Werner Adult Day Care.
