Ethel Nioma Stater was born in Floris, IA on June 5, 1910 to Morrison and Janie Daugherty. She was a longtime resident of Iowa until moving to Amarillo in 2006. She had many jobs in her life including being a great seamstress, a wonderful cook and caring for neighbors in their homes and enjoyed caring for those that were around her. She was never afraid of hard work and worked until the age of 95. Over the last century , she saw many things change, from everything being made by hand and home grown to what we have today. Ethel was quite the joker and teaser of sorts, as all of her family will tell you. She loved life, family and friends to the fullest and her smile could bring warmth to any room.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Raymond ad her daughter, Gypsy DeLano.
She is survived by two sons, jack Stater and Carroll Stater and wife Beverly, both of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Brice Stater, Brent Stater, both of Amarillo, Brad Stater of Dallas, Beth Gowdy of Frisco, Becky Adams, Lance Stater and Tonya King, all of Amarillo; fifteen great grandchildren and seven great- great grandchildren.
