Emma Jean Goodwin, 82, of Amarillo died on Wednesday, December 2, 2015. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm., Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 1:00 until 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S Coulter Road.

Emma Jean was born on October 1, 1933 to Henry and Dollie Luther in Guymon, Oklahoma. She grew up in Stratford, Texas where she graduated from high school. Emma Jean married Jack Goodwin on May 17, 1952 in Stratford and they moved to Amarillo in 1960.  She worked as a hair dresser and at Cloth World Distribution Center for 15 years.  She was a member of Potter County Extension Association Cherokee Club and Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.  Emma volunteered in the community for many years and was loved by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack; a sister Mary Lee Cox and a brother, Carl Luther.

She is survived by her daughters, Jackie Harbison, of Amarillo, and Sheryl Wood and her husband, Hank; a son David Goodwin and his wife, Kiili, of Amarillo; a brother, John Luther and his wife, Karen, of Texline, Texas; grandchildren, Elisha Robertson, of Howe, Texas, Michelle Fuller, of Fort Worth, Texas, Grant Harbison, of Amarillo, Alex Wood and Zach Wood, both of Washington, DC and Stephanie Carroll, of Austin, Texas; and 8 great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association, 5410 Bell Street #411, Amarillo, TX  79101 or to the charity of the donors choice.
