Emilia Solano, 72, of Amarillo passed away on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011. Wake services will be at 6:30 p.m.on Monday, September 12, 2011 in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road, Amarillo, TX. with Blaine Westlake officiating. Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Martin Road Chapel with the Rev. Ed Sweeney officiating.
Mrs. Solano was born Dec. 4, 1938, in Lelia Lake to Barbino Chavez and Chana Muro. She grew up in Amarillo. She attended St. Mary’s Academy and later attended Amarillo College. She married Raymond Solano Sr. in Amarillo in 1955, and he preceded her in death in 2000.
Emilia worked as a secretary for the Catholic Diocese for 20 years. She enjoyed reading. She loved spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Eloy Muro; a son, Raymond Solano Jr. in 2000; and a granddaughter, Brianna Solano in 2007.
Survivors include four daughters, Maria Solano, Barbara Solano, Kathy Mezger and husband Michael and Elaine Solano, all of Amarillo; a son, Joseph Solano of Salem Ore.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Frank and wife Cindy, Isidoro, Ramon and Jesse; and three sisters, Cecilia, Juliana and Rosalie.
