Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 Friday April 8, 2011 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 4100 S. Coulter Rd. - Amarillo, TX. Burial will be in Memory gardens Cemetery.
Elon Peters was born on March 17, 1935 in Brownell, KS to Edmund and Eleanoria Peters. He attended school in Kinsley, KS, graduating in 1953. Elon enlisted the United States Army on May 27, 1958, where he served in the corp of engineers. He was honorably discharged on April 30, 1964. Elon worked as an electronic service technician, most recently for Tascosa business machines where he retired in 1999. He volunteered for the Amarillo Police Department as a coordinator for the handicapped patrol. Elon loved gardening, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed lengthy conversations with everyone, including strangers. His grandchildren were the love of his life and his biggest hobby. Elon was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church for over 15 years and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
SURVIVORS: 2 Daughters, Robin Villagomez and husband Cris and Michele McAffrey and husband Jerry all of Amarillo; 7 grandchildren, Mason Dudley, Skylar Rose Villagomez, Rowan Villagomez, Jarrett McAffrey and wife Kandice, Jordan McAffrey and wife Alexis, Jantson McAffrey and Jaymin McAffrey all of Amarillo; 2 great grandchildren, Creed and Caden McAffrey; brother, Edmund Peters and wife Norene of Hays, KS and his sister, Eleanoria Brake of Laurel, MD.
