Elmer Glenn Hisel

January 16, 1926 — March 15, 2013

Memorial service will be at 11:00am Tues. March 19, 2013 at Trinity Baptist Church in Amarillo with Pastor Nate Magloughlin of Trinity Baptist Church officiating. LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Rd. Coulter Road Chapel in Amarillo is in charge of arrangements


Visitation will be 6-7PM Monday March 18, 2013 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel in Amarillo. The body will be available for viewing from11-8pm on Monday at the funeral home
Elmer was born in Amarillo on January 16, 1926 unto Marion James and Madge Vison Hisel. Elmer graduated from Clayton High School in Clayton New Mexico in 1943
He served in WWII in the European Theatre from 1944 to 1946. He then married Colleen Muse in Amarillo in 1946. They remained happily united for 66 years. To that union four sons were born. In 1952 Elmer continued his military career in the National Guard and Army Reserves until 1988 when he retired as Full Bird Colonel He retired from the US Postal services as a supervisor in 1985. He enjoyed many adventures with Colleen traveling the country on their motorcycle and motor home. Some of his great joys were spending time with his extended church family, grand children, great grandchildren and his dog Ladybug

He is preceeded in death by his parents, his brother Bill Hisel and his sister Marie Hisel.

Survivors include his wife Colleen of the home, his sons Roger T Hisel and his wife Connie, Gary Don Hisel, Larry Hisel and wife Libby all of Amarillo, Johnny Hisel of Lubbock, three grandchildren, Dryller Hisel and wife Crystal, Desi Hisel and friend Amber both of Amarillo, Montana Hisel Cochran and husband Barry of Portland Oregon, five great grandchildren, Grant, Mathew, Kalli, Ambri  and PailseyJane, a sister Betty Powell of Amarillo, TX.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to City Church of Amarillo and Faith City Mission of Amarillo
