Elizabeth Loriece Levitt, age 71, of Amarillo passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014. Graveside services will be Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 11:00 am at Northlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dumas with Rev. Sherman Eastland chaplain of Odyssey Hospice officiating.
Elizabeth was born in Brownwood July 30, 1942, to Dr. R. N. and Margaret (Smith) Whitehead. She graduated from Dumas High School and West Texas State University with a teaching degree. She married the love of her life Gene Levitt in Amarillo July 28, 1967.
Elizabeth taught school a few years before she became a Mother and then she devoted her time to raising her children and caring for Gene.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Dr. John Whitehead.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years Gene of Amarillo and a son John and wife Shelley Levitt of Dumas and a daughter Michelle and husband Troy Ducheneaux of Canyon and four grandchildren Chelsea Ducheneaux, Joshua Ducheneaux, Chloe Devenney and Claire Devenney. Also left behind is a sister Judy Whitehead of Hurst, Texas
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to BSA Hospice for the loving care they provided for Elizabeth and her family.
