Elida H. Benavidez, 82, of Amarillo passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 3, 2018 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel with Monsignor Arthuro Meza, officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.
Elida was born on December 28, 1935 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Thomas and Refugia Hernandez. She was the oldest of the six children. Elida married Carlos Benavidez and they made Carlsbad their home before moving to Amarillo in the 70's. She worked as a paralegal for several attorneys in Amarillo. She enjoyed dancing and watching her novelas. She will be remembered for her deep love for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Ronald Benavidez, two brothers, Frank Hernandez and Richard Hernandez and a sister, Guadalupe Martinez.
She is survived by her sons, Felix Anthony Benavidez and Ronald Benavidez II; grandsons, Nick Benavidez, Matthew Benavidez and Richard Benavidez; a brother, Manuel Hernandez and a sister, Consuelo Acosta and many nieces and nephews.
