Eldon Leon Vernon was born on August 27, 1942, on a family farm in Tipton Oklahoma to his parents Harry Arthur Vernon and Dorothy Jean Crowley. Eldon grew up in Tipton, where he attended school and graduated in 1961. In 1964, Eldon married and started a family that grew to three sons and one daughter. He graduated college with a chemistry degree that led him to work in many industries over the years. He finished his working career at Amarillo College as an instructor in 2014. He became passionate about genealogy and woodworking during his retirement.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents and two infant siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lillie Donita Touchstone, and his four children, Scott Vernon and his wife Kelly of Perryton, Texas, Kevin Vernon of San Antonio, Texas, Derek Vernon and wife Leandra of San Angelo, Texas, and Katrina Owens and husband Dustin of Amarillo, Texas. He was blessed with eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Larry Vernon and his wife Marilyn of Cleburne, Texas.
His legacy of hard work and devotion lives on through those who knew him and his children.
