Edna Mae Berry, 95, of Amarillo passed from this life on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. Services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 4, 2018 in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Road.
Edna Mae Berry was born April 18, 1923 in Dalhart, Texas to Alva J. Leslie and Belva Allen Rhodes Leslie. The family moved to Amarillo in 1936. She was a graduate of Amarillo High. She went to work for Equitable Life Insurance Company in 1961 as an office manager where she worked for 25 years. Edna was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a Gold Star Mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Elizabeth Rickman, and her only son, Vance A. Berry who was killed in Vietnam.
She is survived by her daughter, Hallie Jean Grant and husband, Gayln, of Lubbock, Texas; four grandchildren, Greg Grant and Robin Olguin, both of Amarillo, Texas, Kevin Grant, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Vance Grant, of Lubbock, Texas; 8 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren and a nephew Glenn Rickman, of Horn Lake, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Honor Flight or VA Nursing Home Christmas Project.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the funeral home.
