Edgar Lee McCloskey

December 27, 1925 — February 28, 2011

Mack was born on December 27, 1925 in Redwater, TX to Edgar Lee, Sr. and Lela Eunice McCloskey.  He grew up in Redwater and graduated from High School there. He worked as a journeyman carpenter in both Lubbock and Amarillo and was working at Amarillo Air Force Base when he met his wife Lois Roberts.  They were married on June 16, 1951 in Amarillo. Mack served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed at Ft. Eustis, VA and later Goose Bay Labrador.  He was employed with Santa Fe Railroad for 36 years.  Mack loved to play the fiddle (not violin). He loved playing cards and dominos and was good at remodeling houses.  He loved fixing toys for sad faces and in his 80’s he started learning to cook.  Mostly he enjoyed doing his Bible studies with World Bible School.  He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include:  his wife Lois, three daughters; Deborah McBride and husband Donald of Leauge City, TX, L. Elaine Albers and husband Max of Amarillo and Martha A. Cooper and husband Derek of Canadian; 1 son, Michael D. McCloskey and wife Connie of Canyon; 2 sisters, Melva LaVerne Schafer of Redwater and Linda Coleman of Ashdown, AR; brother, Barry McCloskey of Wake Village, TX; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Commanche Trails Church of Christ or High Plains Children’s Home of Amarillo.
