Dwight E Cook

Dwight Eldon Cook 84 passed away Sunday February 02, 2020. He was born March 28, 1935 in Childress, Texas to James "Jack" and Martha Belle Cook. He had two brothers Homer Cook and Joe Donald Cook. He married Marcia Baker in 1964. They had a daughter Karla Kinsky and he adopted her son Jeffery W. Cook. In 1980 Dwight married Peggy Ann Atkinson-Jefferies Cook. They raised Mac, Lisa, Barney and Casey Jefferies.
Dwight is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Joe Donald Cook, his wife Peggy Ann Cook, and stepson Mac Jefferies. Dwight is survived by his daughter Karla Kinsky and husband Terance, step children Lisa Jefferies, Barney Jefferies and wife Lisa; Casey Jefferies and wife Angie, brother Homer and wife Pat and adopted son Jeffrey Cook; four grandchildren Jackie, Joey, Jenna and Kami, eight step-grandchildren Jennifer, Ashlee, Abbee, Anslee, Mac Jr, Cole, Jacob and Nathan and 2 great-grandchildren Hope and James.
Dwight served four years in the United States Army from 1953 to 1957. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Dwight was a machinist and inventor who worked for the State of Texas where he would be presented a task and his job was find a way to find a figure out how to build it. Dwight was instrumental part of Advo's success for the past 29 years. Dwight was a amazing machinist and saw no obstacles when it came to designing, building and training Advo's special population of workers to advance their work skills. He could take a worn out, old piece of junk and turn it into a piece of art. Advo was so grateful that Dwight was able to share his talents with them. Dwight was kind, generous, honest and an amazing musician with a servants heart. He never said no and was always helping others. He had hundreds of friends at Advo who admired him and looked up to him not only for his many talents but for his guidance and good solid advice. Dwight was a mentor to many at Advo. Dwight will be most remembered for a being a musician who played the steel guitar, bass and guitar. He was inducted into 4 Hall of Fames including one Living Legend Hall of Fame. He was inducted into the Western Swing Hall of Fame in Seattle, Washington. The Western Swing Music Society of the Southwest Hall of Fame. The Cowtown Society of Western Music Hall of Fame. He was most recently inducted as a Living Legend of Cowtown and Western Swing Society Hall of Fame.
