Dorothy Whitley, 85 of Amarillo passed away on November 5, 2011.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter Rd with Pastor Terry McAffrey officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Whitley was born on May 4, 1926 in Arkansas to Robert and Donnie Wright. She moved to Childress, Texas in 1928. Dorothy married Reno Whitley in 1947 and they moved to Amarillo. They were married for 52 years and she had been a residen of Amarillo for 64 years. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reno; three sisters, eight brothers and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include; two sons, Kenneth Whitley and wife Ella of Amarillo and Terry Whitley of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Doris Williamson and husband Rusty of Amarillo; two Sisters, Girldene Wiggins of Hereford and Lucille Plunkett of Amarillo; a Brother, Aulbert Wright & wife Veletta of Lubbock; three sisters-in-Law, Bessie Grimes & husband Lehoyt, Eurmal Whitley of Borger, and Corine Whitley of Waco; 9 Grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
The Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday evening at the funeral home at 8310 S. Coulter.
