Dorothy "Dottie" Gruver, age 88, of Amarillo passed away Monday, February 17, 2014. A time for the family to receive friends will be Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Coulter Road Chapel. Funeral Services will be Friday, February 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church with Reverend  Chad Mantooth officiating. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery.

Dorothy was born on January 22, 1926 in Cobbtown, GA to Columbus and O'Cala Collins.. She met and married Wesley Dale Gruver while he was in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. They moved to his hometown of Amarillo, Texas where they raised their three sons.

Dorothy was a devout Christian at Temple Baptist Church where she enjoyed library meetings and "old folks eating meetings". She loved spending time with her family at many gatherings and holidays. Her most cherished times were spent with her most precious friends like Doris. They spent many hours shopping and eating together.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Wesley Dale Gruver and two sons, Randy Gruver and Danny Gruver.

Survivors include her son Tim Gruver and wife Christy; two grandchildren, Heather Bilbrey and husband Joe and Jarrod Gruver and wife Tabitha, all of Amarillo; four grandchildren Tell Laing, Sye Laing, Kree Laing and Briar Gruver. She is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Wanda Gruver of Amarillo and Betty Gruver of Lubbock and eight nieces and nephews.

The family wants to send a special thank you to the nurses at BSA CCU and BSA Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to Temple Baptist Curch.

The family will be receiving friends at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Home, 8310 S. Coulter on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
