D. June Inabnet Lawler Kirk Busby died peacefully surrounded by family on January 21, 2016 due to complications from ALS. She was 78. Memorial services are scheduled for Tuesday, January, 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Stephen United Methodist Church, 4600 S. Western St. Amarillo, Texas.
She was born on June 17, 1937 to C.S. and Rosalie Inabnet of Galveston, Texas. She graduated from Ball High School in 1954 and married J.G. Lawler Jr. in 1955. She and her husband both worked for the Santa Fe Railway and were transferred to Amarillo in 1965. She retired from the Railroad in 1987 and later started a second career in Real Estate. After her first husband passed, it was through real estate that she met and married R.L. Kirk. June, an accomplished artist, loved to travel and it was during one of her trips, after R. L. passed, that she met Carroll "Doc" Busby. In 2004, they were married and she relocated to Plainview, Texas. Doc passed in 2012 and in 2013 she moved back to Amarillo to be close to family.
June volunteered in the community, was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, involved in P.E.O. and active in church groups in both Amarillo and Plainview.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Teresa Lawler of Amarillo, her son, Greg Lawler of Fort Worth, three sisters, Carol Wurst, Nancy Kinsey, and Linda Grubbs, one brother Champ Inabnet, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
