Doris Wingfield – A Life Well Lived
After 92 years on Earth, Doris Vivian Wingfield has moved on. She calls Heaven her new home. Jesus Christ has paved the way for her to live in eternity with the Creator of the universe. On Earth, she loved God, loved her family, and loved others. But now, don’t you worry. She’s finally home. There is no more weeping, no more hurting, no more suffering, and no more sickness. He holds her now. If you know Jesus Christ, and He knows you, she will greet you once more.
At the end of life, many people are judged by the number of accolades they have received or the success they have achieved. At the end of her life, two things were important to her: loving Jesus Christ and serving Him by caring for others. Doris passed away at home at the age of 92 on December 7, 2012 in Amarillo, TX holding hands with family members who loved her dearly.
Doris was born on February 6, 1920 in Elk City, OK. At 15 years old, Doris received Jesus Christ into her heart at First Baptist Church in Elk City, OK. Then in 1939, she found the love of her life, J.B. Wingfield, whom she was happily married to for 71 years. J.B. passed away in 2010 with Doris at his side. Doris was buried next to her husband in Llano Cemetery.
One way Doris showed her love for Jesus was teaching 4 and 5 year olds at Trinity Baptist Church about the love of Christ for more than 50 years. Doris and J.B. enjoyed spending Friday nights with their friends and traveling in their motor home.
Doris loved keeping and nurturing her grandchildren, teaching them about the love of Jesus Christ and rejoicing at each of their decisions to follow Jesus. Doris’ passing can be celebrated by the thought of her sitting with Jesus right now.
