Dora E. (Pepper) Woods

Dora Woods, 93 of Amarillo, Texas passed away Thursday May 2, 2024. Dora was born November 18, 1930 in Shamrock, Texas to Tom and Lottie Pepper.  

She married Roy Woods on June 19, 1950 in Clayton, New Mexico. They moved from Shamrock to Borger then on to Fritch, Texas where they resided for 50 years. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Fritch for that length of time. She moved to Amarillo in 2008 to be closer to Roy who was in the V.A. nursing facility.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy and her son Richard (Rick). Also, six brothers and sisters.

 Dora is survived by her son, Ron Woods and wife Kaye of Amarillo. Brothers, Leon Pepper of Borger, Dennis Pepper of Twitty, sisters Shirley Gist and Wanda Armstrong of Pampa. Also, two very special sisters-in-law, Kay Pepper and Johnye Faye Pepper. Grandma Dora is proudly survived by eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Twenty-three special nieces and nephews. Dora adored each and everyone and so many of her friends became her family as well.

 We’d like to say a very special thank you to all the staff and residents of Heritage Convalescent Center for the love and care for the last five and a half years of her life.
