Donald "Don" Travis Eldridge, 66, of Amarillo passed from this life on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 4:00 pm on January 19, 2019 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Pastor John Elser officiating.
Don was born on August 14, 1952 in Los Alamos, New Mexico to Deward L. and Mary L. Eldridge. His family moved to Clarksville, Tennessee where they lived before moving to Amarillo. Don graduated from Tascosa High School in 1971 and attended West Texas State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1975. He married Joyce Hamann on August 6, 1977 in Amarillo. He worked Texas Department of Transportation for 22 years.
He was a man of many hobbies, he was an avid angler, hunter, and he was a skilled taxidermist. Don played the bass guitar with the Texas Tumble Weed Junction Band playing country, classic rock and red dirt music.
He was preceded in death by his father, Deward "Dewey" Eldridge.
Left to cherish his memory is his only daughter, Amanda Eldridge; his mother, Mary Eldridge; a sister, Marilyn Weichmann and husband, Mike; two brothers, Allen Eldridge and wife, Janet and Mark Eldridge; nieces and nephews, Kara Wright, Eric Weichmann, Jon Weichmann, Chase Prock and Katie Eldridge.
