Don was born on August 10, 1918 in Mangum to Henry and Luna Crisp and he inherited a love of the land and farming from his family who settled in Greer County in 1904. His great grandfather and his brother along with his family left the Choctaw reservation to come to their new home. Through the years, the story was told at the beginning of their journey they had a hen sitting on her nest and by the time they finally reached new home they eating chickens.
Don had a love for his country and he felt he had a duty to serve. Don served in the Army from 1942 through 1947. While in the Army, Don met Eileen Thompson who was serving in the Navy. They were married on September 6, 1946 in Bristow, OK. They lived in Mangum, OK. until 1953 when they moved to Wichita, KS. for a short time. Then in 1956, they moved to Amarillo where he worked for Pantex. During his time at Pantex he continued farming on the weekends and during his time off for vacations. He beloved wife Eileen passed away and June 13, 1970. After the death of Eileen, he met and married Donna Fay Price of Panhandle TX. Donna had five daughters at the time of their marriage. They discovered a shared love of playing golf and bridge. They continued to live in Amarillo until his retirement from Pantex, where he worked for 35 years. They then moved to Mangum, OK.
Preceded in death by his parents, a brother Earl Crisp and his first wife Eileen T. Crisp and his second wife Donna Fay Price Crisp.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Barnett, Jetta Morris and husband Doyle. Three grandchildren Lance Barnett and wife Brandy, Melanie Mickey and husband Brack, Boone Morris and wife Shea. Four great grandchildren, Amanda and Logan Barnett, Daxstyn and Berkley Mickey and of course his beloved black Labrador “Penny”.
