Donald Lea Cox

Donald Lea Cox, aged 92, of Amarillo, passed away on November 21, 2024. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend. Don was born to Clyde and Faye Cox in Tulia, Texas on June 15, 1932. He was raised in Tulia and after high school, joined the Air Force where he served proudly for four years during the Korean War. 

 Don was employed by SPS/Xcel Energy for 31 years and retired in 1993. After retirement, Don's favorite activity was taking cruises and traveling all over the world. He collected caps from all the countries he visited. Don was always willing to lend a hand, telling everyone he saw "if you need anything, you call me".

 Don married Doris Nickels in 1962. They were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Susan Elizabeth in 1971.

 Don was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Faye Cox, sister Jean Davis, and brother Clyde Cox Jr.

 He is survived by his wife, Doris Cox, daughter Susan Snead (Chris) of Lubbock, granddaughters Kailey Snead of Galveston and Shelby Snead of Lubbock, as well as many nieces and nephews.
