Don "Sunshine" Miller
December 28, 1920 - March 22, 2014
Don "Sunshine" Miller , age 93, of Amarillo passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Pastor Tommy Ewing of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo.
Don Miller was born on December 28, 1920 in Burden, Kansas to Roscoe and Flossie Miller. Don married his wife Wilma on December 12, 1946 and they were married for 53 years. Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during both WWII and the Korean war. Don was a twice decorated Purple Heart recipient and a proud member of the Purple Heart Association. He was a true patriot and was very proud of his country. Don worked as a truck driver in the freight industry for over 30 years. He also enjoyed going garage selling and buying bicycles and lamps and then bringing them home and repairing them to working condition. Don enjoyed the big three sports and was a fan of the Texas teams (Cowboys, Mavericks and the Rangers). Don loved spending time with his family.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife Wilma, a brother Glenn and a sister Edna.
He is survived by three daughters; Leola Neises of Derby, KS., Carol Miller and Cindy Cruz and husband Tony, both of Amarillo; one son, Monte Miller and wife Renea of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The family will be receiving friends at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter on Monday, March 24 from 5-7 p.m.
