Doc Cong Nguyen, 80, of Amarillo, passed away on February 22, 2025. He was born in Thaì Binh Vietnam on December 14, 1944, to Thao Cong Nguyen and Van Thi Pham. He married Lan Thi Pham in 1969. He served in the Vietnamese military and came to the United States in 1975.
Doc is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lan, and their four children and grandchildren. They include Phuong Hung Nguyen (Thuy Nguyen) and their children John, Mary, and Elizabeth Nguyen, Phung Minh Nguyen (Tam Dinh) and their son Lucas, Linh Nguyen (Doanh Tran) and their two children, Theresa and Johnbosco Tran, Hang Nguyen and her children Nathan Nguyen, Abigail, and Christian Sphabmixay. He is also survived by one sister-in-law Xuan Thi Nguyen and her six children Trang, Thuy, Thai, Thien, Tuan, and Tu, along with 11 other nieces and nephews in Vietnam.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister-in-law Kinh Cong Nguyen and Tuong Cong (Ngam Nguyen) Nguyen.
Doc belonged to Our Lady of Vietnam Catholic Church and worked at Tyson for over 35 years. Early in his life in Vietnam, he played guitar and drums in a band. He loved taking walks and working in his yard. He also enjoyed cooking and cleaning. He was a deeply caring and sweet man who loved making people laugh and happy. Most of all, he loved his wife, children, and grandchildren so much. He will be deeply missed by so many.
