Dionicio “Nicho” Sauceda, Sr., 64, passed away on July 4, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas. He was born on June 30, 1960, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Carmen Sauceda and Telesflora Zapata. He completed his education up to the 10th grade and then began working in the oil fields, welding, and agricultural sectors. Notably, he met his future wife while harvesting onions, and they exchanged vows on October 22, 1979, welcoming four sons and two daughters into their lives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carmen and Telesflora Sauceda.
Nicho is survived by his wife of 44 years Dora Sauceda, son Dionicio Jr. and his wife Lorena, son Elpidio and his wife Maricruz, son Arnulfo, son Francisco, daughters Pricilla and Lisette and her husband Marcos Cisneros. He also has twenty-four grandchildren, one great granddaughter, four brothers, five sisters, and nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
Nicho played baseball at a young age. He was a happy, funny man who embraced life to the fullest. He loved to make funny jokes and comments and took immense pride in his beloved family. Fishing was his cherished passion often driving around to find anywhere to fish and also, fishing with his family. In 2019, he embraced his faith, getting baptized and becoming a devoted Christian attending Renovacion Ministerio Internacional in Amarillo, Texas. Nicho will forever be cherished and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
