Deborah Jean Forrester Gilley Bennett

Deborah Jean Forrester Gilley Bennett, 69, of Amarillo died on Saturday, December 26, 2015. Memorial Services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Deborah was born on February 5, 1946 in Vernon, TX to WM "Arvin" SR and Oleta Churchwell. She was the Head cheerleader and member of Caprock High School's original graduating class in 1963. She then went on to Amarillo College and graduated from Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing in 1981. Deborah was a trauma nurse at Northwest Texas Hospital from 1981 to 1986 and then pursued her career in patient care utilization review until retiring and moving to Ajijic, Mexico, returning to Amarillo in 2012. Deborah enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Deborah also loved remodeling projects, old western movies and was an avid reader. There was not a project that she was not afraid to take on.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
She is survived by one son, Barry Forrester and wife Donna of Amarillo; two daughters, Andrea Shields and husband Terry of Parker, CO and Amy Melton and husband Joe of San Antonio and one sister, Zelda Perry of Colgate, OK.
The family suggests memorials to the charity of the donors choice.
