Amarillo

Dean Most, a devoted Christian, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas at the age of 84.

Dean was born in 1940 to Edwin and Mildred Most and grew up on a farm near Ogallala, Nebraska. He attended District 22 through his elementary years. Later, he attended Platto Valley Academy near Shelton, Nebraska, a Seventh Day Adventist church academy during his high school years. Dean married Nancy Wecker and together, they moved to California, residing there many of his adult years.

Gardening was one of his many hobbies. After Nancy passed, Dean returned to Nebraska. A career as a U.S. Census taker kept Dean busy for many years. Together, Dean and Veleta moved to Amarillo, Texas. They met and enjoyed the friendships of the congregation at Arden Baptist Church they attended. Gardening and hiking were still Dean’s special hobbies.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Mildred Most; his sister, Dorothy Swena and his great-granddaughter, Madison Bowen.

He is survived by his wife, Veleta; his sister, Dori Fletcher and partner, Eddy Wiederhold; his children, Larry Bowen and wife, Kathy, Terrie Bowen and partner, Jayson Akerson, Carrie Ceniceros and husband, Poncho and Ernie Bowen; his 10 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
