Deacon Andy Gonzalez

Deacon Andres Gonzalez, 67, of Amarillo passed away August 17, 2024. He was born February 23, 1957 to Guadalupe and Delfina Gonzalez in Friona, Texas. Deacon Andy married the love of his life Esmeralda (Recio) Gonzalez on August 26, 1977. He was Ordained as a Deacon for the Amarillo Diocese on September 30, 2011. He was the coordinator for Prison Ministries and had a passion for serving in the prisons. He was a devoted Cowboy fan. He was a gifted guitar player and singer. He would serenade his wife and family with music every chance he could. He was a blessing: bilingual, musically inclined, and he really found his calling in life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Pablo Gonzalez, Johnny Gonzalez, Gordy Gonzalez, Nena Lerma and two sons Nick Gonzalez and Adam Gonzalez. He is survived by his daughters; Bonnie Spencer, Jennifer Gonzalez, Kayla Melgoza, Kimberly Moreno and Desiree Mason, Sons, Kaleb Spencer and Melvin (Andy) Mason, Brothers Juan Estaban Gonzalez, Jose Maria Gonzalez; one stepbrother Joe Sanchez wife Raquel; three stepsisters, Maria Eugenia Sanchez, Juanita Sanchez and Veronica Sanchez and 20 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
