David Lee McKean

September 29, 1957 — May 26, 2024

Amarillo, Texas

David McKean, age 66, passed away on May 26, 2024. David was born on September 29,1957, in Amarillo, Texas to Sherman and Virginia McKean. He was a lifelong resident of

Amarillo, having the joy of growing up and growing older here.

David played golf and graduated from WTAMU with his Business Degree. He then spent his career as a small business owner in the real estate, restaurant and bar industry. David had a love for people during his career and he enjoyed spending his time with old friends and meeting new ones. In addition to his friends, David also loved his four-legged companions that he spent many years with. His beloved dogs were not only his best teammates when hunting, but were just as loyal and loving when going for a ride in the back of his truck or hanging out at home. David was an avid sports fan, watching any and every televised golf tournament, “March Madness” college basketball game, and Texas Rangers baseball game. His kids will surely miss their daily phone conversations recapping the sports from the night before. Most importantly, David found fulfillment and purpose being a father to his two children, Madyson and Wil, and “Pawpaw” to his grandson, Brye. Without question, he loved his family fiercely and was their number one fan. His witty comments, timely text messages, and daily facetime calls will be dearly missed by them.

David is survived by his son, Wil McKean of Canyon, TX, and his daughter, Madyson Lane and husband Kale, and son Brye Lane, all of Wildorado, TX. He is also survived by his brothers Pat McKean and wife Linda of Amarillo, TX, and Mike McKean and wife Sue, of Weatherford, TX. David was preceded in death by his parents, Sandy and Ginny McKean, and his sister Kelly McKean.

David will be remembered for his humor, wit, and infectious laugh and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
