The family of David Jose Hernandez is saddened to share the news of his passing on January 13th in Amarillo, TX. David was born and raised in Dumas, Tx where he made a lot of friends, memories, and usually a big ruckus. If you lived in Dumas at the same time as him, you might’ve seen him racing his Trans-Am, high-tailing it from Amarillo on his beloved Ninja, riding three and four-wheelers, or heard him coming from a mile away with a souped-up sound system in any vehicle he owned.
David was a fan of all things adventure, was fearless, and loved showing others a good time. He was raised on the lake where he excelled at water skiing and on land, enjoyed anything motorized that would go full speed. Later in life, he loved riding motorcycles, playing pool, and listening to music. He loved to entertain others and knew how to have fun. His laughter was contagious and his playful, ornery nature was part of his charm.
David enjoyed serving as a volunteer at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for several years. This opportunity allowed him to build friendships - as he easily did - and listen to many of his favorite artists. He loved any music venue, big or small, and had a diverse taste in music with his favorites being classic rock, old school country, and Texas country, with an eternal, uncommitted love of Kevin Fowler. His children inherited his taste in music.
David worked at Bell as an Aircraft Mechanic until his passing. He was grateful for the close friendships he developed at his job.
David’s friendships - friends or cousins - were an integral part of his life and the family is grateful for the love shown to him over his life by his friends.
David is preceded in death by his mother, Maria Guzman.
David is survived by his father, Joe Hernandez, children David (Kara), Marissa (Aaron), Alexis (Austin), Camryn, and Nicole, and their mother, Liane. He is survived by sisters Amy (Chris) Hord and Terri Solis and nephews Dylan, Jacob, and Joshua. He is survived by his partner, Robin, for whom he had great affection. Further, he is survived by his grandchildren: Greyson, Ian, Olivia, Jude, Jonah, Camila, Crew, and Luisa.
