Clayborn E. Cagle

Clayborn E. Cagle, 96 of Amarillo went to be with the Lord on July 8, 2011.

His funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Bro. Glenn Walls officiating and Bro. Roger Smith assisting.

His burial will be at 3:00 PM Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart, TX  with Military Honors.

Clayborn was born on May 8, 1914 in Cumby, TX to John and Millie Cagle.  He enlisted in the United States Army in March 30, 1944 where he served in Germany during WWII.  He was honorably discharged on October 6, 1945.  Clayborn married Myrtle Carnahan-Harris on December 15, 1945 in Amarillo.  She preceded him in death in 1993.  He resided in Boise City, OK for several years before moving to Dalhart, TX  in 1957.  There he owned and operated Cagle Auto Supply for over 26 years.  He was a self-made man, working very hard to provide for his family.  In 1994 Clayborn moved to Amarillo where he married Betty Jo Payne on May 15, 1994.  He was a loving family man, the best father, grandfather and husband in the world.  His spare time was always spent with family.  Clayborn was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Dalhart and a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist for the last 17 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrtle Cagle; 2 sisters; 2 brothers; his son, Bobby E. Cagle; 2 grandsons, Bobby Darwin Cagle and Clayborn E. Cagle and granddaughter, Debbie Ann Feltman

His survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Cagle of Amarillo; Daughter, Darlene Hammer of Amarillo; 2 sons, Tommy E. Cagle of Alamagordo, NM and Johnny Harris and wife Cathy of Victoria, TX; sister, Daisy Phillips and husband Jim of Pump, NV; stepchildren, Betty and husband Jerry Killingsworth, Sandra Otto and Charles Payne; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great grandchildren and 3 step great-great grandchildren.
