Chester "Jack" Higgins

Graveside service will be held 2pm Monday May 6, 2013 at the Petersburg Cemetery in Petersburg, Texas with Jim Fullingim officiating. The body will be available for viewing from 12-8pm Sunday at the funeral home. LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors of Amarillo, Coulter Road Chapel 8310 S. Coulter Road is in charge of arrangements.

Jack was born on September 21, 1915 in Floydada, Texas unto James Dennis and Dollie Dee Hood Higgins. He was raised and educated in Petersburg. Jack enlisted in the army in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1945. He returned to civilian life with varied interests in farming, banking and investing. Jack was a very active and outgoing man loved by his family and known by neighbors and friends for miles around.  He was an avid golfer and fisherman.

Preceded in death by his parents and five brothers Harmon, Bud, Billy, Roy Lee “Starvo” and Leslie Higgins.

Survivors include his three sisters Myrtle Cason of Fort Worth, Thelma Wood of Modesto, CA; Nellie Merle Boase of Richland Hills, TX;  and 20 nieces and nephews.
