Charlotte Ann Hess, 81, of Amarillo died on Saturday, September 19, 2015. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.
Charlotte was born on May 13, 1934 in Olney, Texas to James and Bertha Wilson. She graduated from McLean High School and attended Texas Tech University for two years. Charlotte married Ben Hess on March 1, 1953 in Amarillo. She was an avid seamstress where she made costumes for the musical drama Texas and Lone Star Ballet's Nutcracker. She was the perpetual room mother, scout leader and neighborhood mom.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ben, a grandson, Brent Sandlin, and a brother, Bill Wilson.
She is survived by a daughter Peggy Sandlin and husband Monte, a son Rodney Hess and wife Barbara, a granddaughter Bailey Hess, a sister Jo Woods, all of Amarillo and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm,Tuesday, September, 22, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Make-A-Wish Foundation North Texas at 411 S Fillmore St, Amarillo, TX 79101.
